Great when it works right.
I have owned this machine for about 10 months and I have mixed feelings. After about a month of ownership I was finding that about 1 in 5 times the coffee would leak down the back of the door and into the drip tray. I would get less than half of the shot in my cup. I make long shot Americano's and I was getting very frustrated because I didn't know when this would happen. After another month this was happening every 2nd or 3rd use, even though I was doing a FULL clean after every use. I emailed DeLonghi customer service and they said to make sure it is clean and to decalcify, both of which I had done. I decided to let it go a while longer but the frustration of lost coffee was driving me crazy. I emailed DeLonghi again and said that I was going to return it to the store. They encouraged me to take it in to the local service centre. This I did and they advised it takes 4-6 weeks and did not provide a loaner. Yikes - that is a long time without a coffee maker! After 2 months I still hadn't heard anything so I called the service centre. They said they had six of these machines and hadn't touched them as they were waiting for a "PC board" or something like that from the manufacture before they could even diagnose the issue. I wrote to Delonghi again to express my dissatisfaction and try to speed up the process of shipping this part. They said that they are not the manufacturer (?) and they have no control over this and that the service centre should have an expected date. I waited 2 more weeks and called the service centre again and they said they received a shipment that day from the manufacturer but the piece they expected was not included. She said she would call them and try to get it sent quickly as it had now been almost 3 months. A week later I got a call that my machine was ready. The comments said that they plugged it in and tried it out and it worked fine. I fully cleaned it before taking it in (scrubbed the insides as well and got all traces of grinds out of the system) but they said it was really dirty so they cleaned and decalcified and just sent it back to me. They could have done all of this upon receiving the item and saved me 3 months of waiting. I find that I still can't do long shots, but it seems to be working fine for single or double shots as long as I clean it every few days. I am really annoyed by the terible customer service and the lack of communication between Delonghi customer service, service centres and manufacturer. I will keep using this machine but I will not buy a deLonghi machine in the future.


Leaking in the first six months
After five months of fairly light use (since I'm the only one using it), It started leaking from beneath the unit. It leaked so much that it covered my counter top and my cookbook soaked up the rest. It was also leaking from around the infuser, which started very early on, but became increasingly more over the next few months.

I called Delonghi and after proving to them I had purchased the unit within the last year by faxing the receipt, they told me that I could send it to their repair center and I'd have it back within a week. That was more than a month ago. I called Delonghi today and they gave me the phone number to the service center. The service center said that they might be able to look at it this week, but they have many people ahead of me (which makes me think I'm not the only one with problems). I called Delongi again and asked them to contact the service center and have things expedited. They said that there was nothing they could do.

I purchased such an expensive unit expecting excellence and if not that, decent customer service. This is not the case. This is the first and last Delonghi product I will ever buy.


steam control
I have had this machine repaired twice. The steam controller has broken AGAIN. It is plastic and not very strong. The electronics have also been replaced. I will NEVER buy a delonghi product again. This machine should be recalled because of the steam controller. I will have to have this machine repaired again but I will contact the company for a final fix.


DeLonghi Magnifica
Steam knob is very difficult to turn. Seller said to deal with manufacturer on the first day I had it. Now leaking around espresso dispenser.
When I called manufacturer I found the machine is three years old. Unused, but old technology. Due to a disability, it was just too difficult for me to package it up and return. It is usable, though.


Great Until It Stops Working, And it WILL!!!
I did not buy this machine from Amazon, my husband bought it for me for mothers day about 2 years ago. After one year of use everyday by me, 4 to 5 cups a day (yummy) this all of the sudden quick working. So I called customer service and they said they'd send me a box, which they did, but that took 2 weeks at least to get to me. In the mean time I called around to see if I could drive it somewhere to get fixed. Each authorized center I was given the number to said that I would have to drop it off and it would take about 6 to 8 weeks to fix. They have shelves full of this particular unit to fix. OMG! I told my husband, who just happens to be able to fix most anything. So he opens it all up and finds that he needs to re-solder a piece that had come loose. Yahoo, I was back in business. One year later same thing has happened again.\

I really love this espresso maker but would never recommend it to anyone else to buy because, there is NO Customer Service at all, at least when you need a repair. For what this machine costs I'm sure there are better products out there with a better working record.

Sorry Delonghi! I do love the machine if only it would stay working, and then if I could actually get it repaired within a week. I love my coffee everyday.

    This is a great machine, so easy to use and less easy to clean. Everything about this machine is great. The only small complaint I have is that when you use the steam tank of water makes a grunting noise and strange sound of steam. Rating: 5 / 5

    I had this car repaired twice. The controller of the steam was again beaten. And ‘plastic and not very strong. Electronics was also replaced. I will never buy a Delonghi product again.
