Product Description:
The Technivorm Moccamaster KBT-741 Clubline brewer is a simple, precise and elegant electric drip brewer. No gadgets here. This is a handmade coffeemaker built in Holland. The main asset of the Moccamaster is its ability to maintain perfect brewing temperature throughout the entire brewing cycle, an attribute that has earned it certification from at least two coffee trade associations. This is a quality product, done simply. It uses an independent energy-efficient heat exchanger that brews directly into the stainless-steel-lined ThermoJug server. That means your coffee maintains an optimal temperature between 194 and 204??F. A consistent temperature is key to preserving the flavors and aromas of coffee, and this machine does just that. It also brews a full pot in 5-6 minutes. The Technivorm Thermal takes an exceptional machine ??? the Technivorm Clubline KB 741 ??? and improves upon it by replacing a hot plate with a thermal carafe. There???s a reason that Technivorm has created 1 of only 2 machines that meet the Specialty Coffee Association of America???s (SCAA) certification standards, and that???s because its design preserves the entire spectrum of flavors in every cup. Water is heated and passes through the coffee consistently, brewing quickly and quietly. It is also approved by the European Coffee Brewing Centre (ECBC) and Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE). Only a handful

Home Brewing to the Next Level
This unit is pricey but makes an excellent cup of coffee. It operates very quietly. It doesn't have the ubiquitous digital clock found on most other appliances; it also doesn't have a timer mechanism to automatically start up in the morning for those who like to maximize their sleep.
Upon assembly you will note that there are five lightweight plastic parts that, when placed into operation, sit loosely on the unit: two carafe plugs (one for operation; one for carafe serving); a filter holder; a filter cover; and, a cold water reservoir cover. All are well designed, needed, and add to the total coffee preparation time.
The KBT-741 does not have a warming plate (for those who tolerate coffee over seven minutes old). Temperature retention is addressed by pre-warming the carafe with hot water.
The unit takes approximately 6 to 7 minutes to percolate coffee. However, if you are willing to spend roughly 0 for a coffee percolator you will also want to use freshly ground coffee to maximize the experience. Changing whole beans in a bag to coffee grounds in the filter adds another 5 minutes to the process. If you like good coffee, it may be worth the 10 to 12 minute total wait.
The filter holder has a flow delay/shut-off mechanism. Since most of us are anxious to get their first cup of coffee (and don't want to clean-up post-prep filter drip), you invariably switch the flow control switch to the "off" position. The problem is to remember to switch the flow back "on" before reuse. One filter mechanism overflow event usually provides the necessary operational training.
Also note that the KBT-741 is of Dutch design and rated to smaller-sized European serving tastes (10 cups). This unit only makes seven standard sized 6 oz. servings. What this means is that you will most likely have to make multiple preparations for groups of four or more coffee drinkers in the States. Again, it does make excellent coffee.

Solid brewer!
First off, I love the moccamaster! I think it is built very well, not sure why some of the complaints about build quality, but the core is rock solid, the plastic pieces are sturdy and very well formed, and the water reservoir is very sturdy and crystal clear.

I didn't give it 5 stars because I was slightly disappointed when I taste tested it vs. my old Krups, was tough to differentiate, although the temperature was right on! I've only had the brewer a month, but optimistic I'll love it for years.

Moccamaster for coffee brewing? It is that!
I have owned the Technivorm KBT-741, since 2007.
So I have some history with this coffee maker.
Now everyone has different needs, different wants and different expectations.
So if you want a timer, built in grinder, clock, etc, go buy something from Wal-mart.
If you want a great cup of coffee, for years, this is the one.

The requirements I wanted for my next coffee maker was very easy.
1) Make a great cup of coffee.
2) The carafe to be insulated.
3) The carafe to be machine washable.
4) Be reliable.
5) Make a great cup of coffee. (oops, I said that already).

The GOOD:
1) This machine has never failed me to deliver a great cup of coffee.
2) It has delivered the same temperature (without using a thermometer) since I purchased her.
3) The carafe maintains temperature for a very long time.
4) The carafe has survived the bottom rack dish washer.
5) Has a great look.

The BAD:
1) The amount of water indicated on the water storage does not equal filling up the carafe (it is always less).
- I contribute that to the coffee grinds absorbing some of the water.
2) The plastic grind holder is all manual, where if you forget to CLOSE, the dripper, and pull the carafe out, well... coffee wasted onto the counter top.
- over the years the indentation to make you "feel" the difference between slow drip to full drip, has worn out to make it more difficult to feel the difference.
3) The plastic 1/2 round sheet that is used as a protector (?) for the carafe is not mounted permanently.
- I do not use it. Because I have it located in a corner of our butler's pantry and pull it out when I brew the coffee.

SUMMARY:
Does this coffee maker cost a bunch of money? YES.
Does this coffee maker make consistent cup of coffee for many years? YES
Does this coffee maker have a great carafe that survives dish washers? YES
Does this coffee maker have design issues, just like other coffee makers? YES
Would I buy this coffee maker again? YES
Would I recommend this coffee maker to other coffee lovers? YES

So if it was not for the (3) negative items I mentioned and of course the high cost, I gave this Technivorm KBT-741 a 4-Star rating.

KBT-741
The Technivorm KBT-741 makes the best cup of coffee I have made at home. It had better for the price. My only complaint is the little pastic part that the carafe sits on while brewing. It constantly separates from the brewer. If the carafe doesn't push a little botton in, it doesn't start, so I keep using the part. One time I put hot water in the carafe as instructed, but forgot to pour it out to start brewing. Big mess. All of the parts are easy to clean after use and makes coffee quickly.

No problem with my machine
I will keep this brief. I brought this at a local gourmet kitchen store, Chef Central. I have had little trouble with it. I clean it every month or so with white vinegar. It really makes the best coffee. Most flavorful and piping hot. All of this with the ease of an automatic drip. I am a satisfied customer. I have had no trouble with it and don't consider it to be built "cheap".

We bought this coffee After thinking for a long time. It ‘very expensive – but it makes the best coffee I’ve ever tasted. No need to buy expensive coffee. It taste like Starbucks Folgers. Rating: 5.5

Fast, easy to use and maintain, quieter and makes great coffee. We thought that this machine is a bit ‘expensive, but closed the articles in the magazine Cook’s economic for us. The review was right. . . . It can be expensive, but it is much better coffee. In addition, it is fun to watch as water pours through the glass tube. The only problem (and it is very minor) is that the lid does not fit the thermal carafe coffee. It ’s a major problem if not escape the lid on the right side, it’s just that the coffee might cool a bit’. Rating: 5.5

  3. nice design and brews coffee so hot, but cools quickly, unless a pot of coffee. be only for 2-4 cups not as good as I thought it would. Overall, good product, but I do not think that is the price tag. Rating: 5.4

  4. I searched for years for the perfect coffee maker. You know, a concoction that would be strong, aromatic, delicious coffee every time. I give this product a solid Technivorm five out of five. If you love great coffee, do not waste your time with this review and not buy this coffee maker. I have the opportunity to prepare a pot full five minute a number of times, always show a success. It’s worth every penny of $ 300. Rating: 5.5

Some years ago I started using a French press every morning for my coffee. While I could appreciate the taste greatly improved and the richness in my cup of coffee, most of my visitors do not care for the best reasons and more it seemed that the bottom of the cup. While I was on the floor to reach less of coffee every time, it was very difficult to be constantly Technivorm beseitigen.Da! I found in a review in a magazine, cooking, and I agree that most closely resembles, as rich as the coffee produced by a French coffee press. . . but without the residue on the bottom of the cup! Yes, it costs a pretty penny, but after a year of use, I must say that it’s worth it. The trick, they say, is that the water temperature Technivorm sent on coffee is ground. Moreover, the coffee maker design that is foreign to us Americans (even if to tell me that the European visitors is not unusual in their area), and the device is something like a conversation Stück.Es some minor errors, I can not even get to work around. First, if you forget, you have just made a pot you do not receive response, the CAP will be on the pitcher rather quickly to determine the temperature of the coffee will fall rapidly. Secondly, I am a bit ‘worried about the support of all filters of plastic, so I’m pretty careful when I do the part of the process behandeln.Aber what is more important than the coffee it produces. And five stars from me is that! Pay the extra, and remember, you’re a fresh pot was beer, and be happy! Rating: 5.5
