Buy Cheap Coffee Maker Machine

Strong sickening plastic taste tried 2 machines
Do not order extra coffee. The machine comes with a bag of coffee pods but I didn't know it so I ordered 20 dollars worth and it is not returnable. Washed everything good w/hot soapy water first. Coffee had an extremely strong plastic taste and smell. Called Senseo they sent out another one which had the same awful taste and smell. I really do not think Senseo is doing as much as they should to make sure these are off the market. I also did as another reviewer said and ran vinegar through the machine twice, the first cup of coffee tasted better after that but then the next one was gross again. Can't believe I kept tasting this stuff. It can't be good for you. Also took up alot of my time washing all this stuff, priming the machines, packing the two back up again to return. And stuck with coffee pods I cannot use. You would think Senseo would make sure your second one is a good one. Said they would send me another one. Just the thought of tasting that coffee again makes me want to throw up.

I love this coffee pot. It makes great coffees and I love the froth on the coffee when it is done. I would reccomend this to everyone.

A Great(ish) Single Serve Coffee Maker
Here's the deal with the Senseo...My father bought one years ago and decided when he moved that he wanted a silver one instead of a white one so handed the white one down to me. For a while, the Senseo worked great (no leakage, no noise, etc). As many other reviewers have stated, you MUST CLEAN the machine frequently to prevent leakages and funky tasting coffee. After some time, the machine will occasionally leak and make a ton of noise. Still, a worthwile maker!

To the quality of the Maker itself: this is a great single-serve machine for the coffee drinker who doesn't like to waste an entire pot for a cup or two of joe. With regular cleaning, the leakage problem is stopped. After a few years of regular use, the piece that you set your cup on starts to rattle and makes a noise that forces the kitties to seek refuge under the bed. If you can stand next to your maker while it brews, put your hand on that piece and it will hush! Otherwise, I've found it's a great alarm for the other residents of my apartment.

To the quality of the Senseo Coffee: ICK! There are many sources out there that provide well flavored and full bodied coffee pods that work great in this maker. Baronet is my source but you can also buy your favorite coffee and make your own pods. Many sources provide the supplies and it takes such little time to cover yourself for a week or two of your favorite flavor.

All in all, I'd buy this coffee maker again and again.

Use Vinegar!
I purchased this Senseo maker about five months ago. I have moved four times since, as I am a college student, and here are my observations:

1) Use vinegar and water to flush out the plastic taste and smell. I did not use my Senseo for the first two months because when I did, the coffee tasted like plastic. But when I visited home, my mom washed it out with vinegar twice (once with each pod holder), and then twice with water (again once with each pod holder). The taste disappeared, and there began my love with Senseo.
2) Well, the relationship is a love-hate affair. A few weeks ago, I had to hold the cord into the machine to brew because of loose wiring. I speculate cord may have been loosened during the moves, but since I boxed it in its original container and was really careful with it every move, I thought it might just be poor wiring. So, I called up Senseo. It was under warranty and a very, very nice Senseo employee sent me a new Senseo. The box had a pre-paid shipping tag so I could send the old (five months old?) machine back. The new Senseo arrived in four days. Very nice customer service.
3) I am an engineering student. That being said, the water reservoir does not tightly fit into the machine. The both of the water reservoir will leak often. If that happens, you need to push in the water output in the bottom. Sounds crazy, but it is a simple fix to poor engineering. The coffee is never hot, just warm. If you make cup after cup consectively, the water heater does heat the water more the next time. But I rarely brew more than one or two cups. Also, only mugs can fit, as the brewing nozzle is short. To be honest, the machine is flimsy and poorly made. It shakes and makes the most horrible sounds when it is brewing. But brewing takes less than thirty seconds.

Overall, the pods do only make four ounces of coffee. That is true. The coffee is really good and foamy. That is true. The machine is sort of expensive. That is true. And it seems to me, the life of the machine is limited. But, it brews quickly, makes insanely good coffee after you get rid of the plastic favor, and the service was amazing. Should you buy this? Depends on your personalty. I am not going to buy another because of the short life span and corner-cutting design, but if you do not care about its imperfections, it might be your soul-mate. After this one wears out (I expect our relationship to last twelve months if I am lucky), I am going to a cheap coffee press. That is what I used to use, and it was more affordable. Meanwhile, I am enjoying the delicious Senseo coffee.

Most Excellent Coffee with Creme
For a perfect, single cup of coffee with the option of countless enjoyable pods of coffee this is the route to g0. What is great about the Senseo is that each cup delivers the same taste/flavor per pod you choose to use. On top of that, the creme is so abundant it makes one think they're in a coffee shop! Upon sharing with family members who have a Keurig, they said our Senseo makes a better cup of coffee. And, we agree.

Purchase the larger water reservoir if you plan on having people over for coffee (which, by the way, has happened ever since we purchased our Senseo). So, my advice to you is make this purchase and enjoy a great cup of coffee. BTW, we were in a flood and lost the machine and coffee to the rolling waters of the Cumberland River. We found the Senseo on Amazon for a lower price than what we found originally and the coffee company we purchased from sent us two boxes of coffee to help us get started. Blessings were mighty bountiful!
